Senior Buyer - The Outlet & Torpedo7

At Ngahuia Retail (part of the Tahua Group – the Kiwi business behind Number One Shoes + Hannahs, Torpedo7, and The Outlet), we’re looking for a highly experienced Senior Buyer to lead across Torpedo7 and The Outlet. These two brands move to very different rhythms – one focused on outdoor and adventure, the other on off-price treasure-hunt retail – and you’ll be the person who can confidently procure and strategically build both.

Based at our Support Hub in Takapuna, Auckland, this isn’t a “business as usual” buying role. You’ll be the one spotting opportunities, securing sharp deals, and making bold calls that drive sales, margin, and stock turn. From white-label development to treasure-hunt buys that make customers’ eyes light up, you’ll be at the centre of the action.

What you’ll be doing:

• Own the end-to-end buying strategy for Torpedo7 and The Outlet, balancing long-range planning with fast-turn opportunity buys.
• Leverage your international and domestic supplier network to secure compelling ranges, exclusive deals, and the right price points.
• Drive house-brand and white-label development that delivers on price point without sacrificing quality.
• Deliver results, margin, sales, and stock turn, by trading with pace, insight, and discipline.
• Partner with eComm, Marketing, Supply Chain and Store Operations to ensure product, storytelling, and execution align.
• Lead and develop your team, creating a culture of pace, efficiency, commercial awareness, and collaboration.

What you’ll bring:

• Significant experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer, ideally across multiple categories and at scale.
• Proven track record of delivering strong commercial results and managing complex supplier negotiations.
• Established relationships across both domestic and international markets.
• Strategic and tactical balance, able to set the long-term vision while trading sharp day-to-day.
• Adaptability to work across two brands with very different cadences and customer propositions.
• Ability to prioritise the right task at the right time for the right outcomes.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and cross-functional influencing skills.
